Because it's in the hint "the colors (as usual) are not like the Pokemon."
This means that the colors are white and yellow in the picture, but in reality the Pokemon has a different color (Sorry my English if it was written incorrectly).

I won't lie, the hints helped a lot
there aren't many non-water pok with "a" in their name hat have some blue on their body and from gen-1 that have this kind of shape

anyway, as said on discord, since I won that round too I won't participate in the next one
to give my opponents some false hope >=)

It honestly was my VERY FIRST thought, but I talked myself out of it

The main reason why I thought it couldn't be Tangela is because, when desya said, “the colours are not like the Pokémon”, I assumed it was likely a Shiny colouration. But Tangela, like I said, is green. I didn't consider the possibility of there being an anime clip where it had other wacky colours… which was a failure on my part, given that Crystal Onix has been an answer in the past.

I won't be making that mistake again!
