I recently returned to PWO after a couple of years away and found out about the Union rooms. Although the map for the room is clunky and has way too many plants, im impressed with the overall appeal of it. Xanascript is not the easiest language to write in, there are a lot of bugs that will appear randomly. The password feature is good.
However, Pokemon is fundamentally about battling and trading. My suggestion is to not limit trading to two specific towns. Make more union rooms or make the current union room accessable from more towns. To make it accessable from more towns, you could have one large Union room map and NPCs in different pokemon centers around Kanto/Johto. When the player asks to be teleported, assign a variable or an invisible item to their player account so that the returning NPC knows which town to return them to.
Trading is an important part of Pokemon gameplay, and should be encouraged. It connects players to other players, and encourages the people to play the game more. Trading makes people hunt for rare shinies and HRs (or whatever the new version of rarity is, there's not much information about it out there), helps people to daycare and can be useful for quests. Please consider making trading more accessible again.
