I'm sorry new players, I forgot that you own PWO and can demand anything you want at any time. You guys have been here the longest and know exactly what to do to make everything better <img src="http://www.pokemon-world-online.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/JigglyLOL.png" class="bbc_emoticon" alt="" />

Please stop acting like the new players are the only ones complaining. I've been playing PWO for months but had to register a new account because the email system wasn't working for me (TreeFiddy350 is the old, this is the new). I agree with what people are saying, this is a dumb idea.

You act like the new players have never had experience with playing games. If WoW locked out half of its population from playing the game, how pissed would everyone be? Very pissed. And I know FOR A FACT that it wasn't even lagging for everyone that bad with 700 people. In fact, it lagged way worse before the system went down for a while but now it seems fine. It is, at the very least, still playable with the amount of lag. I would much rather be lagging A LITTLE than not having the opportunity to play and having the fear of somehow getting DCed ingame and not being able to log back in for another few days. This solves absolutely nothing. Sorry if some of us have work or school and can't check back every 5 minutes to see if there is a single spot open. We all aren't 13 years old here.

But I'm not going to debate anything. We will find out in time if it is the right decision or not.

A few months is new enough. I have not seen one veteran player complain to any of the staff about any of their decisions. And do not for ONE second compare this to WoW. They have millions of players paying a fee each month to play, hundreds of full time, professional staff as their full time jobs, AND make millions of dollars each year off of it. They are no where near the same thing.

I did not say that at all. If you're an older player, you're wise enough to keep your mouth shut and have faith in the staff and RESPECT their decisions.

I went looking for a pokemon game like this and when I finally found out about this after much googling i was annoyed when I couldn't register. I checked every day twice a day for like 4 days and finally I get to play it and this game is pretty awesome even though I didn't get too far. Anyways how much would be needed to get a better server? I may be able to recruit some investors. This games got potential.

When we ran multiple servers for the game, we discovered that issues in the server coding meant that both servers were unable to save data to the database at the same time, meaning one server would constantly lose new data. Since this was a disservice to our players, we decided not to run multiple game servers again until we had this issue resolved. As of late we wouldn't be able to anyway even if we wanted to, because we currently only have the one working server, though some of us hope we can acquire another soon, if only to split the web content away from the same server as the game content to reduce the load on that server, which is another major cause of lag for all the services.

When the server is lagging everyone complains. When the server is not lagging they complain because of the limit. Everytime something changes there will be people complaining. <img src="http://www.pokemon-world-online.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/MisdreavusWink.png" class="bbc_emoticon" alt=";)" />

auto logout is a bad idea, how would you like it if you were in a battle with clair or another person, and just get disconnected? i would cry D:

i'm guessing ur not in PWO yet when we literally can only play like 15 minutes / day, when lags are at they're best, and rollback happens almost every time? that time i got DC-ed/rollbacks on 3 gym battles that makes me have to wait one day to fight those gym leaders again.. yeah, sure that's kinda pisses me off, but i don't cry about it.. lol

well, not if u have a countdown timer in the client display.. so you would know not to fight battles/gym leaders if your countdown timer is only like few minutes left.. coz few games use auto-logout feature and its pretty useful to handle with server's capacity issue..

if they decide to stay with 400 quota, i think this is a good idea to consider.. coz not all of us players are poke-nerds who would play PWO like 6 hrs straight without logging out once.. lol

I wouldnt mind if there was a 1 dollar fee a month or something like that. Just to weed out some of the players. If you loved the game you would afford to pay 1 dollar to play it <img src="http://www.pokemon-world-online.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ChikoritaSmile.png" class="bbc_emoticon" alt=":)" />

that wouldnt be pwo... not that i would mind that having donated so much money myself but it would not be pwo with a fee because not everyone can get a paypal account. this is pwo the issues and downtime keeps things exciting XD just wait all will be fixed even if it takes 2 days or if it takes a year

Then we lose our classification as a free-to-play game. Which would be a problem

To some of the comments about the server cap. I can say from being the only staff member on for a few hours with 400+ players, it is a migraine dealing with all of the conversational traffic. Questions are being fired left, and right, from almost every channel because peoplecan't use common sense do not know what to do. Lag causes many players to glitch into areas they shouldn't spawn too, meaning we have to constantly port them to pc, or force them out of areas so they can move again. It's simply too much for 1-2 people to handle issues in-game that are caused from issues outside of their control.

Limiting the server size down to 400 keeps everything more stable; meaning less glitched spawns, less teleportation of players, more focus on getting new players accustomed to the game via answering questions, and an overall better atmosphere for gameplay. Granted it isn't perfect, but if it keeps things working better than 700 (which it does), then it was the right move.
