I went ahead and spent the night (slowly) drawing and outlining for recoloring. I also updated my card(signature version) and put the "new" trainer in.
New recolored trainer:
Against the older one with the "stock" trainer:
He's darker now, but hey it's my card and so that makes the trainer "me", and I never wear anything brighter than a dark gray.
Took some time to do without my tablet, but it came out alright.
