I also don't see why we need both "Most Shocking Moment:" and "Most Memorable Moment of the Year: ". To me they would be the same thing, and the same to other players in their own opinions.

I'd say that Most Shocking Moment is more of a or thingy, while Most Memorable Moment is more like and sometimes even .

Arguably, people are more likely to remember events that are perceived as negative than positive events. I could possibly back this up with research done to see how people feel about both kinds. In which they discovered that people feel pain (emotional in particular) more powerfully than they feel joy. As such, if you give someone $1,000 they will likely feel happy, but if you take it away then they will feel 10x more unhappy than they felt when you gave it to them. Something along those lines.

Much as I generally ignore this thread, Rygar makes an interesting point. While a "memorable" event is simply one considered worthy of being remembered, it could be argued that if an event is "shocking", it is something that evokes such an intense reaction that it is unlikely to be forgotten easily, which would also make it "memorable". It's also true that a shock is not necessarily always a bad thing. Maybe these could be adjusted or reworked for future years...
