This is perfectly normal. As noted on the announcement's thread, the amount of experience you would receive in the previous experience formula would be displayed in the paranthesis, and to the left is the actual amount of experience you are gaining, governed by the experience formulae that is being trialed. These values are juxtaposed together, for comparison purposes, to instill a better first-hand sense on how these differ, so feedback can be given that highlights likes/dislikes of the changes (for another thread after the trial has concluded).
