How To Level And Evolve Metapod?

I just caught a metapod and I am having a hard time leveling it since it only knows harden. I usually sub it out of battle and have it share exp, but it doesnt get much. At any rate, what level will it evolve to butterfree? Its level 5 right now.

About the training, I think the exp share that you're doing is the only way or try to catch a caterpie, so your new metapod will have the move: tackle.

A really effective way of leveling a Metapod / Kakuna that only knows Harden is to Catch a weedle.



While in the Viridian Forest, use Weedle to severely weaken, and poison pokemon. As long as they are poisoned, you can this switch to Metapod/ Kakuna. This allows the poison to ko the opposing pokemon, and Metapod/ Kakuna get majority exp

i don't know why your metapod hasn't evolved, but i know, that everyone can edit their pokemon's moveset for enough pokedollar through your playerdex
