Donation is closing? I do not understand why, you said that you can’t keep this up, we all know that the tokens have been going out slow, it is understandable as you guys do have other things to do in the game. Most of us understand that the tokens can take time right now, we were willing to wait for them, and we still will be. The people who are upset about this are the people who understand that the tokens can take a while.

Without the tokens the game will change; for a while Token Pokes will be raised in price and so will Shinnies, then after all the (active) tokens are out of the game, the people who have been here a long time and donate often to keep their MS going for whatever purpose they may have, will be bored and leave the game. This game will end up being like the handhelds where you beat all the gyms, have a few PVP battles, get sick of looking for random Pokes, and leave. The donations keep the game going more than just to keep the server running, they are the whole reason a lot of players are here; the MS the extra XP and money from battles, the higher Shiny rate, the Token Pokes they keep the game alive.

Yes you can’t make everybody happy, there were a lot of people who complained about how slow the token issues were, but you are going to get more people complaining about this. Also foods for thought, the donations are what the server keeps running; it can’t be cheap to host a free game. After the money that you have is gone how will you keep the server running? Are you going to go into your own pockets to keep the game alive?

Congratulations PWO, you have done what Nintendo failed to do; YOU killed the server.]

It was to the point either we close donations, or keep donations open and stop giving out tokens...

I won't speak for myself but I felt back about players waiting MONTHS to get tokens they donated for.

None will understand the decision they had to make because us as players only feel like it will be worse, but think about the fact that it makes their lives more complicated..etc.

I have been one of those players who had waited months, and a friend of mine who feels the same way is another. There has to be another way to do the tokens, you have people on your staff who are IT specialists and know more than enough about computers and coding to make a token generator, or even continue with the tokens the way you have been. We have not stopped donating yet, but once you stop these donations the *game has a life span.

Can we go ahead and start closing these threads?

It's unfortunate, yes. It is only temporary. The company head has to make a decision to automate the tokens once more, or give the resources to the staff to allow them to do it. The staff was spending too much time regulating token issues to spend any time doing anything else. It was not the staffs assignment to hand out tokens, it was the company head, but he dropped the ball, and doesn't care.

If you want things to change, email Xanatus. Drop in IRC chat, and ask for his email, as the one on the team page is not valid.

I'll be honest, yes, taking away donations may have effects on pwo in the near/far future (depending on the effect).

But what you all had to realize, was the donation system was flawed in the first place. Lee and Jinji both had to get information from a staff member who is barely around to give it, which caused the players to not receive the tokens they donated for. I don't know much about the token situation, because i've never actually dealt with it (except for the two times i've bought tokens) so feel free to correct me on that matter if i am wrong.

My main point here is, the staff had a decision to make. Whether to keep donations up and allow people to try to get tokens and wait months, leave the donations up but not give out any tokens, or take the donations down all together and give tokens to those who donated but received nothing due to problems. The last option obviously made the most sense at the time and still does. Nobody said the donations will continue to stay down. In fact, Lee said that if they do happen to be done later on, they will most likely be done by Xanatus only. So this isn't the end of donations. Think of it as more of a break for now so that everything can get situated and fixed.

I do understand that Xan was the one who was holding the tokens up for the most part, and so does everybody else, still we were WILLING to wait. And Blue did not guarantee that the donations would still be up. A lot of people would also be willing to continue to donate even if it was just for MS.

Don't be mistaken it's no company lol, but I don't think it's wrong for players who've put so much damn time and money into the game to get pissed let's be truthful with the large amount of money they've made the ones in charge probably got lazy or tired and just want to chill..after 4 years this is the least I'd expect I mean come on we knew eventually it would be backed up over hundreds of active players a day..I'm not surprised and to be honest for you higher ups you could have prevented this by stopping it earlier on rather than trying to squeeze what you could continuously allowing players to wait and eventually causing this train wreck or at the least could have put someone else in charge.

On the other hand anyone idiotic enough to keep donate knowing that the system was slow and messed up that's your fault lol it's called research people.. so don't act so surprised now.

This isn't meant as a flame or disrespect towards anyone, just my opinion.

If Xan wants this game to stay around, he's welcome to finally talk to us. ~
It all depends on Xan...

You make it sound like we wanted it to come to this. *sigh*

Not necessarily, I'm simply saying you could have probably stopped before it got even more complexly tiring.

or a player willing to help you guys with funds, you admins/devs need to take charge and stop being dependent.
Don't want to bite my tongue seeing as I don't know the full situation about xan.

I'm going to be blunt here.
The ideal to close tokens wasn't done correctly at first, but you're kind of complaining to us about closing something because you wanted to give money to it. Which is kinda cool to hear on our part, but you haven't lost anything by the backlog being completed quickly and the extra 3 tokens the administration gave in compensation.

I understand that it's difficult to see how much easier this makes life to just close the system. But it's...I didn't even deal with the things, and just seeing that burden be lifted from my co-workers is just so relieving.

and just to clear up...
, you have people on your staff who are IT specialists and know more than enough about computers and coding to make a token generator, or even continue with the tokens the way you have been.

The first suggestion simply wouldn't work that way (since it is Xan who is needed) and the current system was dealt with for as long as possible before we just snapped. Let's not continue it.

If we could be less dependent, it would've been done by now. We've been bending our own system in half trying to get it to work (EG: registration).

I'll always be confused and understand it's probably complicated to explain, buy why not just start pwo over in a sense..with a new system or such..I'm sure there's a few formidable programmers that would love to join and make what ever is needed or at-least try to repair excluding myself with the past distrust I've gained..

Of corse current client and such would be used with the systems and stuff being built in the back ground.

Unfortunately, Glaceon01; it's an option, but a very difficult, a time consuming option.

Partially because Xan has access to certain things that makes starting fresh with a solid base nearly impossible.

Well, Glaceon, the problem with your suggestion is that none of the current staff (excluding Shane and Xanatus) own any part of PWO. The client is Shane's and nobody but him has the source code. While our current Developers and Administrators have access to the server code, they cannot just take it and form their own game around it. Pokemon World Online is owned by Code Core Entertainment, and if our developers or administrators just took the server code, that would be theft. Correct me if i'm wrong on any of that.

To put it simply, we'd have to completely start over. Starting over isn't the best plan. We just need changes.

I think this game need some kind of automatic getting tokens when donating or to chose let say 4 options of amount of money to donate and you get more tokens with higher option.
But I see that developers are inactive especially Xantus which I believe that is main one,and Im afraid looking at the future of this game if xan decided to not coming back, maybe someone else
could take control if he have access to servers and other important things (this is what I think,I dont know a lot of this game I just play it)

Donations Gone = Xan get's no money.
Xan get's no money = Xan reads his e-mails.
Xan reads his e-mails = Shocked Xan
Shocked Xan = Xan starts working for his donations again.

Ideally, yes.
Likely? Probably not.

Well isn't it worth a try? Maybe one voice is not enough, what if we all were to send an e-mail to him emphasizing the importance of this game to everyone including himself?
