Whilst it is true a staff members response would give you the solid answer, they aren't always available. With that said, people who have experience and knowledge of how the system works can give you just as good an answer.
The staff are at no way at fault for the bugs in the game. In this case the delay between your Pokemon disappearing and clicking release. You should have changed map or done a /refresh to make sure first.
The game is in beta and you have to be smart about how you play in order to get the best experience. Refresh if something doesn't load. Re-log after certain achievements to save it so you don't rollback from a crash. The game does auto save but if it crashes then you get rolled back to the last auto save - unless you have re-logged, then you rollback to the moment you logged out.
