We already have 1 skill ingame, which is the fishing skill. My idea is to add another skill for the pokemon league. When you level up you can access johto (if you started in kanto), some levels later you can enter other areas like the sevii islands and hoenn which are planned for the future...

Small note: It's possible to fish pokemon around level 20 in Pallet Town. That means you can beat the first two gyms easily. You should fix that. Edit: I had to post this in the 'Feedback: Spawn Changes.' topic, sorry. :-X
