*sniff sniff* Do you smell that? The holiday spirit is in the air; inviting us to make one last push before the New Year. Sure, this is a time for joy and cheer, but how about we spice things up a bit? As we indulge in the festive goodness of the winter season, let's have a friendly little competition...

XMas2024.png
Long ago (some might say even say 2018-19) the two festive nations lived in harmony, but then everything changed when the Pyro Nation asked for a rematch.

Event Duration: December 24 22:00 UTC - January 14 19:00 UTC

Location: Cherrygrove City & Vermillion City | Cryo - Pyro Valley

Competition
This year, we're bringing y'all a cool competition where you'll be joining forces with your fellow trainers to gather points in the name of MORE REWARDS & PRIZES!

Team Selection: Trainers will be randomly assigned to Team 1 or Team 2 once they catch their first Pokémon on the event map.

Catch Pokémon, Earn Points: Catching Tier 2+ Pokémon anywhere on the event map will reward a certain amount of points as follows,
  • Tier 2 = 4 Points
  • Tier 3 = 9 Points
  • Tier 4 = 16 Points
  • Tier 5 = 25 Points
Track Your Progress: The Playerdex website now has a leaderboard where trainers can view total points on both an individual and team level.

Rewards & Prizes: There are both individual and global point goals that trainers can work towards obtaining greater rewards!

If you experience a bug or notice anything wonky, please report it to the Staff team pronto!

Reward & Prizes
Rewards are cumulative and will be distributed at the end of the event. "Global Rewards" require trainers to reach a minimum point contribution threshold. Team 1 & Team 2 both contribute to the Global Rewards total and are not considered separately.

Individual Rewards
  • 200 Points = 2 Event Vouchers + Master Ball
  • 500 Points = 2 Event Vouchers + Frost Egg
  • 1,000 Points = 2 Event Vouchers + 500,000 Pd
  • 2,000 Points = 1 Event Voucher + 750,000 Pd
  • 3,000 Points = 1 Event Voucher + 1,000,000 Pd
Global Rewards (min. 500 individual points)
  • 100,000 Points = 2,000 Tokens
  • 200,000 Points = 3,000 Tokens
  • 300,000 Points = 4,000 Tokens
  • 400,000 Points = 5,000 Tokens
  • 500,000 Points = 6,000 Tokens
Top 3 Team Contributors
  • 1st: 15,000 Tokens
  • 2nd: 12,000 Tokens
  • 3rd: 10,000 Tokens
Team Competition Winners
  • All trainers from the team with the most points at the end of the event shall be rewarded with a (additional) Frost Egg.

Ode To Community
Everyone on the PWO Staff would like to thank everyone in the Community for all the love and support you have given this past year. Words cannot describe how much it warms our hearts to be able to work on this project for as long as we have; which undoubtedly would not be possible without each and every one of you. As we reach the end of the year and begin our transition into the new year, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to those who have ridden along this rollercoaster of a journey with us. While some of us have reached our respective stops, the never-ending train of PWO keeps on rolling and has been fortunate to welcome new or returning passengers to fill the space. In a world often driven by the loudest voices and largest of (player) populations, it's easy to forget the formidability of these smaller, yet close-knit communities. Our words and actions carry real weight, real meaning, real passion. While we do not always see eye-to-eye—far from it—it all comes from the same source of desire to make things just a little bit better. It has been our honor and privilege to serve this Community and we hope that you continue to enjoy this train ride with us as we trek into the future. Happy Holidays!

~The PWO Team

Why not switch around the order of individual rewards to prevent alt acc farming eggs? just an idea...
Way too late for that now IMO...the cat is not already out of the bag, it's running around rampantly...

Regardless, I certainly hope there is some sort of an audit that results in alts or 2nd accounts receiving no rewards at all.

Hello, I believe that changing the awards is out of the question.
I also think waiting for an audit after the event would be problematic, as the competition will already be over, and the losing team will be at a disadvantage.
The best approach would be to immediately remove those involved in using alts during the event, ensuring a fair competition for everyone.

Thank you staff for all your work and Happy Holidays! The event is also half over. I have 2 comments about Frost Egg, I hope everyone will consider:
1. Frost Egg should not have a tier 1 pokemon that can be caught in the game (eg Delibird, Swinub,...). It's been 5 years since the egg appeared again, I don't want anyone to be disappointed and there will be a little joy when the egg hatches.
2. I feel the race between the 2 teams is very interesting and attractive. It will be a bit unfair for the losing team when we can't choose the team ourselves, some players only reach 3000 points and then end their event, the top players of the losing team all try to shorten the gap with the leading team but it's very difficult for them. I suggest that at least the top 12 of the losing team will also receive a Frost Egg, we can all see their efforts on the leaderboard
Regards

Then what was the point of the competition? Unless you also want only the leaderboard of the winning team to get the 2nd egg.

So I said it was a bit unfair to arrange the teams. The total points of the top 12 between the two teams were not different, but the total was very far apart.

Everyone that gets 500 points already gets a Frost Egg.

The winning team just gets an additional one. For winning.

Changing the rewards or criteria halfway into the event would be kinda ridiculous as it would have changed the way people played.

Based on the rewards it was obvious to me at least that there was never an intention or incentive for players to 'no-life' this competition. It was merely just a nice bonus for playing. "Even if you don't find a rare shiny this event, at least you still get some stuff" type of deal.

Now, some people are naturally competitive and will try their best regardless, and that is fine, but that is their decision and they are making it knowing perfectly well what the rewards are. To then come back and complain and ask for more knowing full well what the rewards were is, again, ridiculous.

Lastly, the idea that the frost egg should contain anything more than a T1 shiny, or a T2 shiny at the very most, is also ridiculous. Getting 500 points only takes a few hours. There are going to be literally hundreds of these eggs being handed out. They are not handing out hundreds of Shiny Lapras' (for example), nor should they.

"But what if its a low hatch percentage, like 1%, and the rest are T1s" - I've seen this argument a lot but....Okay, that sounds cool...until the only player who gets the rare shiny had just 500 points and everyone else gets a S Delibird. Does that sound fair? It doesn't to me. In fact, no matter what direction they go with with the egg, the one thing that should absolutely be true is that all the possible pokes are of relatively equivalent value, to prevent the previously mentioned scenario.
