Would it be possible to create a local file that tracks encounters? I think so. I have no idea how hard it would be to make such a thing though. I guess that depends on the amount of data we would want tracked.
From tracking information for just normal pokemon vs shinies, to exact type, gender, and shiny, this kind of feature would prove quite useful to everyone. And if it is stored on each persons local data, it wouldn't bog down the system too much.
I'd just hope players don't tamper with the list.
Personally, I'd find this kind of information fascinating.
